Network Interface Drivers

The COBA software communicates with external systems and devices utilizing a variety of media and protocols, such as LonWorks, TCP/IP, Modbus, M-Bus and others. COBA BOS requires a Network Interface Driver (NID) for connectivity with each type of media/protocol.

Network Interface Drivers are special low-level services of COBA BOS that provide general access to different field buses. Other services of COBA BOS (e.g. device drivers) can utilize the access provided by Network Interface Drivers.

The generic LonWorks driver is included in the basic COBA Server Software license, whereas other drivers are sold separately. Of course, anybody can create new drivers based on the COBA BOS Framework. Availability of standard Network Interface Drivers and the open creation process of new drivers guarantee the safe investment in the COBA BOS platform.
